Wow what a busy, but exciting autumn term we have had in Hedgehog class! At the beginning of the term we worked really hard to learn the class and school rules, explored and gained confidence in working inside and outside, and had a tremendous time making lots of new and wonderful friends.
Our topic this term has been Nursery Rhymes and Stories. We enjoyed craft activities based around the topic, especially making our own Incy Wincy spider puppets. We also wrote get well cards to Humpty Dumpty and in return we received a mission from Humpty Dumpty to help him find his missing sister Lumpty! We have had lots of fun re-telling the story of The Three Little Pigs and even built our own houses out of straw, sticks and bricks.
This term we have had some brilliant outdoor learning sessions with Mrs Spicker and Mrs Zagni. Some of these sessions have been adventurous trips to Littlewood, where we even spotted trolls and wolves!
This term we have also been busy with our Phonics and Numeracy sessions. In Phonics we have already completed Phase 2 of Letters and Sounds and have started Phase 3. We love to use the knowledge we learn in our phonics sessions in our independent reading and writing. Come and take a look at our fantastic mark making wall in our classroom to see our super work! In Numeracy sessions we have been singing lots of number rhymes and counting. We regularly use the Numicon to support our learning in Maths. We have also been learning about 2d and 3d shapes, which we just keep spotting everywhere!
At this point in the term we are incredibly excited about the festive season and have begun practising for our Christmas performance. Our role play area has been transformed into Santa’s Workshop and we are hard at work helping Santa get ready for Christmas.
