Friends of Drayton Community Infant School

Who are we?

The ‘Friends of Drayton Infant School’ are a group of parents who help to raise funds for the School so that despite an economic climate of cut-backs our children can enjoy things that enhance our School as a wonderful place to learn and grow, for example; Premier Sport’s in-school work, Classroom Equipment, Multi-Cultural Weeks, Activities Weeks and Coaches to enable School Trips.

What do we do?

We raise funds for the school and we do this by arranging a variety of events that are either fun for all the family (Fireworks Display, Easter Egg Hunt and Summer Party), or nice things (Christmas Cards, Mother’s and Father’s Day shops) and occasionally some grown up fun with an adults only Quiz Night.

The ‘Friends’ committee meet to organise and plan events and to make decisions on how the money you help us to raise is spent. We are very much guided by the teachers in this and our aim is that all children at the school benefit from our fundraising.

We meet every two months in the staff room mostly in the evening at 7 pm.

What have we provided?

As well as regular commitments detailed above each year the ‘Friends’ tend to take on a large project that the School has need of which provides a focus for our fundraising, many of these things are now integrated as part of School Life: the large Musical Instruments on the School field, the Trim Track, the Greenhouse, Pond, Allotment, Playground Markings and the Outdoor Classroom, the school library refurbishment and the replacement of the Play Tower.

What are we doing now?

This year we have already contributed significantly to each year group to purchase outdoor resources such as bikes, scooters, a writing den, a maths station, outdoor writing boards, giant balance scales. These are just being ordered and should arrive to very soon.

The next project we are saving for are scooter pods to relieve the congestion on the bike shed.

Upcoming committee meeting dates:

  • March 3rd at 7.30pm
  • May 2nd at 7.30pm
  • June 12th at 7.30pm

How to find out what we are up to

Regular newsletters, posters on the A-frame boards (within both school entrances), the ‘Friends’ notice-board situated in the School Office foyer and the school website all contain information from the ‘Friends’.

We like to tell you about forthcoming events, how much we have raised together and what the money is going towards….
