Attendance Matters!

Here at Drayton Community Infant School we take attendance very seriously. All children’s attendance is closely monitored by our Attendance Officer Mrs Lyndy Lake and Mrs Winter. We believe that if children are to reach their full potential, then excellent attendance is vital. All children have an entitlement to regular school attendance. Punctuality is crucial in this.

We believe that the infant years are invaluable times, where the foundations for learning are made.

Children with high attendance at our infant school:

  • achieve better results at Key Stage 1; and
  • are more likely to achieve well at Junior and Secondary school.
  • benefit more successfully from their education.

Clearly there will be occasions when a child is unable to attend school e.g. due to illness.

It is the responsibility of the parent/ carer and the school to encourage good patterns of attendance and punctuality early on.
