Extended Schools
Hi my name is Arlene Warwick and I am your Extended Schools Coordinator.
What is an Extended School?
Children succeed best when they are healthy, self-confident and well motivated. This knowledge has led to the development of extended schools. An extended school is one that provides (or effectively signposts to) a range of services and activities which meet the wider needs and increase the well being of, children, young people, families and their communities. Schools are at the heart of our communities and by working in partnership with each other and other organisations, we can make a real difference to people’s lives.
The Taverham and Drayton cluster of schools contains 6 schools. There is 1 high school, 2 junior schools and 3 infant schools. Each school does not work in isolation. We work together, so that as a cluster we can provide the full core offer of services and activities that are needed.
My role as an Extended Schools Coordinator is to:
- Coordinate the individual schools offers
- Keep the children and young people, parents/carers and the wider community fully informed of what extended schools services they can access
- Accessing grant funding, looking at promoting and sustaining activities across the cluster and ensuring access for all ages and abilities.
- Liaise with other agencies/groups in the provision of services/activities.
- And much more…….!
If you have any comments, questions, ideas on further information or services you would like to have access to, please let me know.
