On the 29th November, the whole school took part in a Day of Calm, led by Suzy Brooks, who is part of the WNDSSP. We all started the day with an assembly, to introduce some techniques and to set the tone for the day. It was amazing to see the whole school, children and adults, focused on their breathing and concentration.
We then took it in turns in our year groups to take part in a 45 minute workshop, where, alongside our teddies, we learnt how to control our breathing, how to remain focused and calm and how to take 5 minute breaks in our learning to allow oxygen to flow back into our brains. We all left feeling very relaxed and felt that our well being had improved.
At lunch time out 24 sports’ leaders had a meeting where they were taught ways to lead a calm session within their class. They came up with some fantastic ideas of their own!
Thanks to Suzy who led such an incredible day! I hope the children and parents, who were sent some information via Parent Mail, can use some of the ideas at home to help to feel calm, especially with Christmas approaching!
