Year 2 Learning

We had some great snow at school. It was so much fun when we got to go outside. For some of us this was the most snow we have ever seen!!!
We all very happy that we got to have world book day and we really enjoyed it. We read lots of stories from different authors and learnt how hard you have to work to create your own books but anyone can do it if they work hard enough.
We have been doing lots of exciting experiments in science. It has been great fun getting our hands messy. We learnt how to write: predictions, methods, results and equipment lists. Also how to follow instructions carefully to make sure the experiment works. We thought it was great when the vinegar and bicarbonate of soda experiment exploded in Miss Humphrey and Miss Oag’s faces, they were covered in gunge! We realised that not all experiments go to plan the first time.
We enjoyed making positive and negative stencils of leaves in Art for our rain forest topic. It has been exciting to experiment with different media this term collage, layering, painting, printing and many more to create some rain forest masterpieces.
We enjoyed running a mile for the race for life. It was a lot further than we first thought!!
In Otter class we have welcomed a new addition Beanz the hamster. He has settled in well and he has already taught the children lots about caring and looking after a pet.
